Network
Installation
Panicware's product can easily be
deployed and installed in any network environment by using the simple
procedures detailed below. If you have any further questions, please
do not hesitate to contact our
sales department.
The following information is relevant to both the Pop-Up Stopper Basic
and Pop-Up Stopper Companion products.
Pre-Configuring your
Installation
The first step in preparing a network installation or mass
distribution deployment is to install the product on a single machine,
and configure the product as you wish the deployed copies configured.
This includes pop-up stopping options, cleaning options and product
registration.
Once you have configured your system, you will need to export the
proper registry key into a .REG file to create a settings
configuration file. The following shows the key you will need to
export for the product you are installing.
Pop-Up Stopper Basic
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Panicware\Pop-Up
Stopper Basic Toolbar
Pop-Up Stopper Companion
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Panicware\Pop-Up
Stopper Companion
The suggested naming is popupbasic.reg
for Pop-Up Stopper Basic and popupcomp.reg for Pop-Up Stopper
Companion. You may, of course, select any name you desire.
If you are unsure on the proper procedures to export a registry key,
please see the Help section in Regedit the registry editor.
Complete Installation
Deployment
If you are distributing the complete
installation executable, you will be deploying the PopUpStopperBasic.exe
for the Pop-Up Stopper Basic or PopUpStopperCompanion.exe for Pop-Up
Stopper Companion.
Prior to initiating the installation on the destination machine, you
will need to import the .REG file you created in on the first machine.
This will properly set up the registration and configuration
information on the destination machine.
You may then initiate the standard installation (execution) of the
setup file and the product will be installed and pre-configured for
your client machine.
Individual File Deployment
If you wish to use a file-based
deployment of either product that does not require any user
interaction, you will first need to export an additional registry key
to allow sounds to be properly installed and recognized by the
products. This registry key is:
Pop-Up Stopper Sounds
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Panicware\Sounds
This registry key will also need to be imported on the destination
machine for sounds to be properly recognized and available to the
user.
In addition to the two .REG files, one for the configuration, and one
for the sounds, you will also need to distribute all the installed
files that were created on your installation machine and register two
COM components to complete the installation. The following lists the
files that must be registered on the destination machine.
Pop-Up Stopper Basic
cchelper.dll
popuppro.dll
Pop-Up Stopper Companion
cchelper.dll
popupus.dll
These two files may be registered via any standard COM registration
method such as using the Regsvr32 application. This is done by
executing a regsvr32 <filename>. For example: regsvr32
popuppro.dll |
