Most experts recommend you clean out your cache and cookies often to
reduce third-party tracking methods such as web bugs and also to free
up much needed disk space. You can also clean browser history and
drop-down URL history. Internet Explorer users can clean autocomplete
forms and passwords (You know when you type a word into a search
engine and it remembers it!)
Windows history cleaning
Right-click system tray icon / Preference / Options / Windows History
The Options tab has Windows History cleaning. Windows records some of
your daily computer actions to remind you the next time you use your
computer. Chose the options that best fit your privacy needs.

Panic Mode
What is Panic Mode?
Panic Mode at its default setting is designed to quickly hide
sensitive material from view. At the same time, Panic Mode can clean
any Browser options, Windows History options, Plugins and additional
folders you have selected. You can also opt to mute sound output to
silence any hidden video or music players, hide your Don't Panic! icon
or close the Don't Panic! program at the same time.
Panic Mode options
Right-click system tray icon / Preferences / Panic Mode
The panic mode allows you to configure what actions Don’t Panic! will
take on open programs and applications when the Panic button or Hotkey
is pressed.
Hide all windows (Default setting)
This option will hide all windows when the Panic Button or Panic
hotkey (Ctrl-Space) is pressed. You may unhide these applications at
any time by pressing the UnPanic hotkey (Ctrl-Backspace) or selecting
UnPanic from the right-click menu on the Don’t Panic! icon.
Hide the active window
This option will hide only the active window when the Panic Button or
Panic hotkey is pressed. For example, if you are viewing a Word
document, only Word will be hidden.
Close the active window
This option will close only the active application window when the
Panic Button or Panic hotkey (Ctrl-Space) is pressed. For example, if
you are viewing a Word document, only Word will close.
Close all windows
Many computer users have several programs and applications running at
the same time. This is called Multi-Tasking. It can take several mouse
clicks to close them all if you need to leave your computer suddenly.
This option will close all open programs and documents when the Panic
Button or Panic hotkey (Ctrl-Space) is pressed. You will be prompted
to save changes to any document unsaved.
Custom Panic Mode
This mode is for advanced users who wish to give Don’t Panic! specific
instructions on how to handle individual applications during the panic
process. For example, if you want to close all windows except your
email program, choose Custom Panic Mode and then click on Custom Panic
Configuration and give Don’t Panic your custom instructions.
How do I Panic?
There are two ways to Panic. One is to use a hot-key (default is
Ctrl-space) and the other is to use a Panic Button *see Panic Button
configuration.
Panic Button configuration.
Right-click system tray icon / Preferences / Panic Button
The Panic Button allows you to select an edge of your screen to be an
active Panic Button area. You can move and/or click the mouse over
this area to activate panic mode, depending on the options you choose
in Preferences. This feature is in addition to your already selected
hotkey!
What if I have no reason to Panic?
Don't Panic! will not hide anything unless you specifically instruct
it to do so. Instead you can use Panic Mode to close all windows and
shut down programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and more with one
click.
Launch Application
Launch
Right-click system tray icon / Preferences / Launch
Don’t Panic! can launch any program or application when the Panic
Button is pressed or the Panic hotkey is used. This is useful in home
