Note: If the Pop-Up Stopper Welcome screen still appears the next time you start Pop-Up Stopper, please try clearing the 'Show Welcome Screen' check box in Preferences. Close Pop-Up Stopper and re-open, and you should be set!

The next screen sets pop-up control. You will want to leave this boxed checked to prevent pop-up windows. We will show you how to change settings soon! Surfing with Pop-Up Stopper - Configuration Options

Do not allow Browser Pop-up Windows.

This menu item should have a checkmark next to it, in order to stop pop-up windows. This mode will prevent ALL pop-up windows from appearing while surfing. This includes small pop-up and pop-under windows, and multiple pop-up windows that often appear while surfing. The control restrictions of this mode prevent all new browser windows from opening. If you are using Pop-Up Stopper and need to follow a new link, such as opening a new browser window or following a link in your email, simply hold down the Control CTRL key when clicking the link.

Start Pop-Up Stopper when Windows Starts
The first checkbox gives you the option to have Pop-Up Stopper start when windows starts. If you do not want Pop-Up Stopper to start with Windows (when you reboot or turn on your computer) you will need to clear this checkbox.

Display welcome screen when Pop-Up Stopper starts
This screen will appear when Pop-Up Stopper starts, to remind you of Pop-Up Stopper's location in your System Tray, and remind you to hold CTRL to open a new link or new browser window. It is suggested that you let this screen appear the first few times you use Pop-Up Stopper, until you are familiar with the program location and settings.

Enable aggressive pop-up control
Pop-Up Stopper allows Internet Explorer users to enable aggressive mode which will only allow one browser window to be active and prevent any new windows when clicking links.  You may allow a new window by holding down CTRL when clicking a new link.  When not using aggressive mode, Pop-Up Stopper will allow most new links in email and web pages to be launched without interruption.

Play a sound when a pop-up window is prevented
You may select a sound to play when a pop-up window is prevented. The system comes a short, unobtrusive sound. The user may select any sound of their choice and is not restricted on the length of the sound file. If a sound notifies you that a pop-up window has been blocked, and you wish to view the window, simply hold the CTRL key and refresh your browser, or click the link again.

Flash system tray icon when a pop-up window is prevented
The system tray icon will flash briefly to alert the user that a pop-up window has been prevented. If a flashing icon notifies you that a pop-up window has been blocked, and you wish to view the window, simply hold the CTRL key and refresh your browser, or click the link again.
